HARWOOD fan Ruth Ashworth drove off with a new car at the weekend but Wanderers Lifeline, which has been running for 18 years, continues to prove that everyone can be a winner.

Three more lucky fans will be handed the keys to a new Vauxhall Agila this year, in addition to the regular weekly cash prize of £2,000, thanks to a link up with local dealers, Kirkby Central.

But Lifeline, launched in December 1982 when Wanderers were in a financial fix, is providing funds for a range of projects that benefit the team and fans alike.

Members' subscriptions have recently provided £150,000 to upgrade the facilities at the Euxton training headquarters and enabled Sam Allardyce to instal Pro-zone - the computer-based video system which monitors performances and provides statistical data on individual players.

Lifeline funds have also paid for the painting of the concourse areas at the Reebok and the installation of protective shields around the roof of the stadium, which provide shelter from the bad weather.

"We at Bolton Wanderers are striving to achieve success both on and off the pitch and have big ambitions - the first of which is, of course, to get back into the Premiership," a spokesman said.

"However, it's not just about getting there. When we are there we have to stay there. Therefore we are ensuring the club has a solid foundation and is successful from the Academy all the way through to the first team. Lifeline contributions are being invested to develop these strong foundations for the club to build on both now and in the future."

The £2 a week subscription offers members a range of benefits including discounts on season tickets, free Junior Whites membership (one child per member), priority match tickets for key games, discounts in the superstore and the potential to earn unlimited cash back through the 'Recommend a Friend' scheme.

Membership details are available from Alison Bell on 01204 673774 or from the Commercial Department at the Reebok Stadium.
