PLEASE allow me a few concluding words after the trouncing I received from the pen of Mark E Booth (Your Views, March 29). I will then retire to "lick my wounds".

It seems I was wrong about the 15 minutes' walk. It is now apparent that it was more like 30 minutes and, now the heavy bag is mentioned, that walk would be no joke.

I will also agree with tongue in cheek that it may have been better if the driver of the bus had been religious about letting too many passengers on, and left Mark and the other surplus passengers to enjoy the "mild afternoon" a bit longer until the next bus -- and comfort.

As regards the driver's eyesight -- he or she has passed a stringent medical.

I apologise also for what Mark calls my "poor letter" and seek his charity as we don't all have the privilege of attending a 'Pinnacle of Excellence'.
