RADIO One DJ Mark Radcliffe will put himself in the frame when he makes a visit to his home town tomorrow. . .

The Bolton-born radio star, who presents the Radio One afternoon show with co-host Lard, will open the Bolton Museum and Art Gallery's new exhibition.

Family Fortunes: Paintings on tour from the National Gallery, opens to the public on Friday, April 6.

The high profile exhibition shows how the family group has been portrayed by some of the most famous artists in history, ranging from the Sixteenth Century to the present day.

Works will feature from Degas, Hals, Hogarth and Gainsborough, and will be on display in conjunction with educational and outreach projects created by local community groups.

The DJ will open the show before an invited audience tomorrow afternoon.

Cllr John Byrne, executive member for culture, said: "We really hoped Mark Radcliffe would agree to open the show as he is a Bolton born lad, a family man and supporter of the arts -- a perfect combination. Plus, his presence would help to raise the profile of the exhibition, locally, throughout the region and nationally. We are very grateful to him for his support."

The exhibition runs until June 24 and admission is free. Opening times are Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, Sunday 12 noon to 5pm, and Bank Holidays 1pm to 5pm.
