FOUR pensioners in Prestwich were mugged in the street yesterday and police are hunting a schoolboy -- believed to be wearing his uniform -- in connection with three of the attacks.
A 78-year-old woman had her handbag stolen at 4.20pm in Park Street; a 76-year-old was approached from behind and robbed of her shopping bag in Gardener Road at 3.30pm; and a 73-year-old lady had her shoulder bag stolen when she was attacked in Windsor Road at 4pm.
Earlier in the day at11am, a 69-year-old woman walking along Sharp Street struggled with a young thief who grabbed her handbag.
Three of the elderly victims all described their attacker as a white boy in his mid teens, wearing a dark jacket and white shirt -- possiblly a school uniform.
He is also said to be approximately 5ft 8 inches tall, slim with short mousey hair.
The offender who struck in Windsor Crescent is only described as a white male, clean shaven with light brown hair and wearing a navy blue coloured top.
Police are now keen to speak to anyone who witnessed any of the attacks.
Whitefield CID are investigating.
