I WRITE this letter in response to Mr Tyas Cooper's letter in the BEN on March 20.

I buy the Bolton Evening News every day to find out about the local football and to see what is going on in and around the town. I am a Boltonian and proud of it. Flicking over the pages over the past few weeks I see your constant moaning, ranting and putting down of Peter Kay, who, in my view and that of others I talk to, is a great comedian, actor and proud Boltonian, who does things his way and not succumbing to people like you, who only seek negatives!

You started Your Views on March 20 with "It came as no surprise to me that the bid of Bolton Institute to become a University had been rejected on the grounds that it was unsuitable to hold the title of University", and then you went into a joy of negativity.

I feel you should have started your letter with "It came as a great joy to me". I would imagine, after reading the rest of your comments, this that would be more 'you'.

Also, to end this letter (so I can carry on reading my paper), I just have one more niggle -- your attack on the BEN for printing one of our arrogant youths pulling a 'moonie' on the front page. Thankfully, I say with all honesty, I don't recognise him.

But I will defend the BEN for printing this picture, as I recall the story was about a one-boy crimewave and the BEN wanted to name him -- and quite right too. If he is old enough to steal 'my car' then he is old enough to be named and shamed.

Anyway, I was saying something, oh yes, got it! The story also showed the arrogance of our youth, and if you were to 'photograph' arrogance, I can think of nothing more fitting than to photograph "someone pulling a moonie".

Please, BW Tyas Cooper, go back to sleep. Moan at yourself for being such a negative, emotional person and stay out of the pages of my BEN.

Let me read about the good things going on in the town, like the uprise of a great Bolton band "4 Way Independence!" who are all from Breightmet and proud of that too!
