I FELT really glum today. I saw housing being built on a Horwich town centre car park. I didn't know it had been proposed. I must get out more.

Because this is happening, Horwich town centre must be closing down, though I haven't seen any sales yet.

Our councillors do try innovative schemes to improve the village, so this is, perhaps, the modern way, by turning shops into 'Des Reses' and busing us all to Middlebrook. There's no parking problem there yet.

By the way, this 'new housing' technique is known as 'gap filling' and is no big deal when it comes to urban planning. Watch out, Regent Drive, builders build what they like around these parts, and they get away with it.
