NATIONWIDE Division Three York at Stainton Park on Saturday November 18.

That's the FA Cup First Round proper prize that awaits Radcliffe Boro -- but first they have to win through tomorrow's night's home replay against Unibond League Premier Division outfit Burscough.

The two drew 1-1 on Saturday in the Fourth Qualifying Round and despite home advantage, plus being one division higher than Radcliffe, it was the Burscough side that came out of the encounter thanking the fates that they had another bite of the cherry in a replay.

Also deserving of a large slice of gratitude from his teammates was Burscough goalkeeper John Bagnall who has surely seldom had a busier afternoon as he pulled off eight or nine outstanding saves. Within the first minute, home defenders had scrambled efforts from Simon Carden and Ian Lunt off their own goalline.

With Boro controlling play it was a shock - and almost an injustice - that Burscough took the lead on 32 minutes when Steve Lehay turned on the edge of the area and fired into the bottom corner. The rest of the first half and the start of the second saw Boro have the home side on the rack.

A well-deserved equaliser came from Mark Dempsey's 59th minute penalty. It was certainly no more than Boro deserved and although Burscough showed more adventure in the closing half hour it was Kevin Glendon's side who finished the game going for the jugular. With one penalty appeal already granted, a further one which to many onlookers had more merit was turned away when Boro substitute Dave Collins was brought down.

Ian Lunt was again denied by Bagnall, Burscough cleared another effort off the line and even the very last minute saw desperate luck for Radcliffe as Simon Carden's header hit the crossbar and went over. The man of the match award for Boro saw many outstanding contenders but the nomination was shared between defender James Price and midfielder Mark Dempsey.

"The tie is not over by a long way," emphasises Boro team boss Glendon.

"The support we had on Saturday was just fantastic and if we get that again it will be a brilliant lift for us.

"Our lads have deserved to see the name of Radcliffe Boro coming out of the hat for the FA Cup live on television and everyone was cheering when it was York at home.

"We are under no illusions about the game. We have to go out and win it. Everyone is fit and raring to go so we couldn't be better placed." Tomorrow night's game kicks off at 7.30pm. The Stainton Park club number is 0161 724 8346.
