LEIGH Centurions are back on the trail of St Helens' versatile star Scott Barrow.

Leigh's interest was rekindled when Castleford pulled out of a proposed deal that would have taken the 21-year-old to West Yorkshire.

Barrow had two rounds of talks with Centurions' head coach Paul Terzis before the attraction of full-time Super League rugby with the Tigers swung the deal Castleford's way.

But now Leigh are back in again for a player who is equally at home in either half-back spot or the hooking role. He was a non-playing substitute for Saints in their Grand Final win.

Terzis says: "The only reason we lost out last time was Castleford's 11th hour interest. At that time Scott would have been more than happy to sign for us. Hopefully his position won't have changed but I do know there is some interest from Salford."

Terzis is also confident that back rower Dave Bradbury will be a Leigh player by the end of this week.

Bradbury is currently preparing for the Lincoln World Cup with the Irish squad and is expected to play against Samoa tomorrow.

"We're closer to a deal than we were this time last week," reveals the Hilton Park boss. "I'm sure everything will be sorted out satisfactorily before the World Cup starts."

If Leigh conclude the Bradbury deal, Terzis will suspend further transfer dealings until after the World Cup.

"I've got 95 per cent of the squad in place although I do want to keep a couple of places open," he says.

"I'm taking in several games in the World Cup to look at players from Samoa, the Maoris, Cook Islands, Tonga, Papua New Guinea and South Africa who have been recommended. There are also one or two in the Emerging Nations competition I'll be keeping an eye on."
