BUDDING Bond Peter Emmett was in 007th heaven as he slipped suavely into the secret agent's shoes. Wife Victoria added the necessary touch of glamour draped across an £86,000 BMW Z8 as Rocky the German shepherd stood guard. But yesterday's recreation of a scene familiar from the much-loved spy films was no idle fantasy.

For Peter, licensed to fund raise, the stunt was a final chance to plug a Bond-themed charity dinner in aid of the Guide Dogs For The Blind Association. Diners are being encouraged to come dressed as their favourite Bond characters for a four-course meal which boast courses intriguingly titled An Action Packed Opening, The Plot Thickens, The Bedroom Scene and A Cool Dark Finish.

"There are no holds barred so people can have their hair shaved and come as Blofeld or stick on a bowler hat and come as Oddjob if they want," said Mr Emmett, fund raising manager for Bolton-based Guide Dogs for the Blind North West.

Guests at the October 6 event will be greeted with exotic cocktails with the option of supping Martinis -- shaken but not stirred, naturally.

A Bond film will be projected onto the wall and diners will even enjoy an 007-based quiz. Even James Bond is not immune from the current fuel crisis. Plans to drive the BMW Z8 from the Ian Anthony showroom in Bradshawgate to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association in Lowndes Street had to be shelved to conserve petrol.

Around 200 tickets have been sold but a number are still available priced £25 each or £250 for a whole table. To book a place ring 01204 492534. All funds raised will be used in Bolton to fund more trainee guide dogs such as Rocky.
