HE may not have made a tackle or passed a ball in the NFP play-off semi-final on Sunday but Centurions' big second-rower Simon Baldwin suffered just as many stresses and strains stood on the sidelines.

Baldwin missed the game as a result of a one match ban he received after being sent off for a foul tackle in the opening round against Dewsbury Rams.

It was a frustrating afternoon for Baldwin who suffered the whole gamut of emotions against Oldham as he anxiously prowled outside the team's dug-out. Fortunately, his team-mates produced the goods with an 18-10 win to book a Grand Final spot at Gigg Lane on Saturday.

"Today I have been as nervous as ever -- even though I wasn't playing," he admitted after the game.

"I had a word with everyone and they said they would do it for me.

"To watch the lads was very frustrating.

"But how they played was how they trained all week. They stuck to the game plan and it has paid dividends.

"It is absolutely fantastic to get to a Grand Final.

It is Dewsbury again who we have played four times already and won three out of four.

"The coach will give us a game plan against them and if we stick to that then we will come up trumps.

"We don't fear anybody - we haven't done all season.

"We know we are at the business end of the season and we have stuck to what we have to do.

"We won convincingly against Swinton at Gigg Lane and hopefully we can go back there and do the same again.

"Super League is out of our hands. We have to keep our fingers crossed and see what happens.

"All we can do is win it. I have enjoyed this season more than any in my eight years of rugby.

"The lads and team spirit and everyone round the club is like a big family.

"The coach has brought in a few little things and taken us on a step further."

Baldwin, back at Hilton Park for a second spell after playing Super League with Halifax, admits it was a worrying time waiting for the outcome of the Disciplinary Committee.

"It was a big relief to get one game," he confessed.

"I would have been devastated to have got two matches and missed the Grand Final but the Disciplinary Committee took consideration of how early in the game it was that I was sent off.

It was like a one match ban. I have been sent off only once before but that was for dissent, not foul play."
