YOUNG actor Dale Peters is hoping to magic up a part in a new Harry Potter movie after winning a role in the popular TV drama, "Where the Heart is".

Dale, of Ulleswater Close, Little Lever, is hoping for a Hollywood breakthrough after sending off an audition tape to Warner Bros, who are producing the film "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" based on J K Rowling's cult children's novels.

The 13-year-old Little Lever High School pupil only began acting classes 15 months ago and attends weekly sessions with the Carol Godby Theatre Workshop.

But he has already been invited to several auditions, taken part in a Granada Tonight feature on canal safety and earlier this year landed his biggest part yet in the Yorkshire medical drama, "Where The Heart Is."

A speaking part, Dale played Donald, a schoolboy involved in a school production of the "Wizard of Oz".

"His street cred went straight out of the window with a name like that," laughed Dale's mum, Jill. Filming took place over a week in Huddersfield and Dale enjoyed meeting actors Phil Middlemiss and Lesley Ash, who also star in the series.

"It was great," he said. "I enjoy acting out with all my friends. There was a lot of hanging around but we played Nintendo."

Dale is planning a sleep-over with his mates so they can watch his screen appearance together when it is broadcast on August 6.

In the meantime Dale is keeping his fingers crossed that Hollywood director Chris Columbus, who made "Home Alone" and "Mrs Doubtfire", will be impressed with his Harry Potter impersonation.

The film is due to be released at the end of next year and Warner Bros has invited British children to audition for the roles of Harry, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

"I would really like to do films," said Dale, who admits he has yet to read a J K Rowling Harry Potter book!
