A MAN who admitted a knife attack on a man after a row about a dog has been jailed for 12 months.

Neil Morton, aged 29, of Broadhead Road, Edgworth, pleased guilty to wounding Christopher Smith who was stabbed in the arm and torso.

Mr Jeremy Grout-Smith, prosecuting at Preston Crown Court, said both men knew each other.

The victim Christopher Smith, had gone out with friends, leaving the defendant to look after his mother's dog.

Later he received a call that the dog was loose in the road, near Morton's home. Mr Smith went to the defendant's house and the two men had an abusive exchange about the dog being out.

A confrontation took place in the street with Morton headbutting the other man in the face. A fight then started with Mr Smith overpowering the defendant.

Immediately afterwards, the defendant told him: "You have picked the wrong person. You are dead now. I am going to kill you."

The stabbing took place when Mr Smith went into the defendant's home to get a lead for the dog.

An independent witness saw Morton take a kitchen knife from a drawer. He then stabbed Mr Smith twice.
