I ENJOY reading 'Your Views' every night. Last night and tonight I have read letters about the sale of the woods in Lostock. I know them well as I walk my dog all around this area. I also wondered how many more patches of green have the council sold.
We have just found out that the common field behind Longfield Road football fields has been sold, one part is to be turned into another football field. Why, when there are five pitches, no more than two in use at any one time?
The rest of the field is for someone called Woodford Industries.
This land has been common land for 35 years. People have established paths and rights of way over this time, and now had this all taken away. The land is lovely, full of different grasses, flowers, birds and wildlife.
Why do the powers-that-be keep selling off these little plots of green, to have them ruined for the enjoyment and profit of a few?
Soon all we will have left will be dirty, glass-strewn streets and no trees.
