IT will be Bury versus Bolton in the Bolton League Hamer Cup Final in cricket after Greenmount and Tonge romped through their semi-finals on Sunday.

Tonge's hopes of winning a fifth consecutive Bolton League title may not be going as well as they might have wanted but they showed the mark of champions in the cup as they dismissed Walkden's challenge with 87 runs and 11 overs to spare.

In the final they will meet another side whose league form has been unpredictable but who have proved themselves capable of beating anyone on their day.

After smashing bags of runs earlier in the season, Greenmount suddenly lost the ability to knock up a big score. But they have been unstoppable in the cup and not even league leaders Kearsley could knock them out of their stride in a stunningly one-sided semi.

Kearsley have scarcely put a foot wrong in the league but they were given a mountain to climb when Greenmount blasted 224-7.

Mike O'Rourke was the hero with a massive knock of 126 while Mark Fallen chipped in with 32.

Kearsley's response was over almost before it had begun as they were whittled out for a paltry 66 to give Greenmount a resounding 158-run victory.

Jason Swift hit almost half Kearsley's runs but the star of the innings was Saeed Anwar who took six wickets for just 21 runs while Fallen picked up the other four for 22 runs.

They could need all their impressive cup form in the final against a Tonge side who are putting it together in the cup and will be desperate to put some silverware on the table if that fifth successive league title is to elude them.

They gained revenge for their league defeat at the hands of Walkden 24 hours earlier in devastating style. In a real team effort with the bat, eight of their nine batsmen reached double figures as they chalked up 202 runs.

Simon Anderton top scored with 52 while overseas amateur David Celep hit 27 and Nigel Hallows 24, Matthew Parkinson taking 4-74.

Any hope Walkden had of overhauling that total was snuffed out by Iqbal Sikander who grabbed a magnificent 8-51.
