Bradshaw Cricket Club U15's won their way through to the semi-finals of the Mervyn Porter Trophy by beating Tonge in a close but enjoyable game.

Tonge batted first, scoring 91 for 5 off their 20 overs (Andy Kerr 16 not out, Adam Radzoch 25 and S Ismal 24).

This was mainly due to an excellent display of leg spin bowling from Aaron Barton Wells finishing with figures of 5/1/13/3.

Bradshaw in reply started off steadily but lost a couple of early wickets. But more batting was to come with a fine 33 from Robert Trengove and that man again Barton Wells 23 not out, steered Bradshaw to victory with one over to spare.

In the other quarter-finals an in-form Heaton side beat Astley Bridge. Astley Bridge batted first scoring 74 for 4.

Heaton replied score 77 for no loss of wickets (Michael Hobbis 49 not out).

Moving on to Horwich verses Westhoughton, Horwich batted first scoring 94 for 3 (Nick woods 46 and Marc Walker 28 not out). Steady batting by Westhoughton got them in a winning position but good bowling from Nick woods 18/3 and M Ainscough 24/3 won the game for Horwich.

High scoring Walkden did it again with young Craig Bates scoring 90 in a total of 146 for 6.

Greenmount in reply could only manage 77 all out, leaving Walkden to take their place in the semi-finals.

The semi-finals shall take place on Sunday the 27th August at 10.30am start and the games will be Heaton will play hosts to Walkden and Bradshaw will play hosts to Horwich.
