Bolton's longest running blues band - Night Train - finally called it a day this month after 21 years of blues power.

A spokesman for the band said "The final straw came when we were about to do a gig, and realised we couldn't afford to pay a drummer on what we were being paid! Its a shame we couldn't have gone out with a bang, rather than a whimper, but with the live music scene being as it is,

we didn't have much choice.

Night Train's heyday was in the early eighties when their unique brand of Hendrix-esque blues made them the darlings of the biker set, performing at numerous large rallies, and even making a legendary appearence at the Band on the Wall. Famous Bolton gigs include Friday nights at the Cotton Tree when it would be house-full by 9pm and the Crystal Rooms gig when so many people attended, the bar actually ran out of alcohol by 10pm!

Members of the band are now continuing with solo projects, but hope to get together for the occasional re- union gig.
