VILLAGERS in Adlington will be among the first people to benefit from a new purpose built crime display vehicle.
The 20 feet long Talbot six wheeler box van is the latest weapon in the fight against crime to be unveiled by Lancashire Constabulary's southern division.
The van, which is the first of its type in the county, has been fitted with a range of special equipment that will allow it to be used in a variety of ways.
Insp Neil Smith said: "We intend to get the maximum use possible out of this superb vehicle. It will be used for promotional purposes at certain events and also during high visibility campaigns in hot-spot areas.
"It will be seen at schools and in shopping centres and the public will be encouraged to come and have a look inside."
Equipment on board includes a demonstration CCTV system, videos, computers, alarms, property marking kits and a range of crime prevention literature.
Chorley Council donated £5,000 towards the project.
