WHAT is going on with our ambulance services?

I have heard and read stories about nightmare experiences with our ambulances. But on Friday, June 23, I had an accident getting off the bus near my door at 4.30pm. I fell and cut and bruised my legs on the bus step.

I managed to get to my house and asked the lady next door to look at my legs. She said I needed an ambulance. She, like me, is over 70.

We got an ambulance quite quickly, the hospital was very good, they stitched my legs, gave me injections, and said they had booked an ambulance to take us home.

Now I had been out shopping since 2pm, so I was waiting to get home to have my meal and so was my neighbour.

We continually asked what time the ambulance would be coming; they kept saying 'any time now'. They booked the ambulance at 5.15pm, but it was 10.15pm when it came from Leigh. We could have gone to London in that time.

What is happening? Can someone please explain to us why anyone should have to wait all these hours when they are longing to get home again?
