Leigh Centurions 18, Oldham 10 BRING on the Rams - Leigh can't wait to get to grips with them again in Saturday's NFP Grand Final.

With three wins out of four meetings already this season, the Centurions are quite rightly brimming with confidence and firmly believe they will get the measure of Dewsbury again at Gigg Lane.

A calm, cool and calculated performance saw the Centurions brush aside resurgent Oldham to merely underline that they have struck top form at just the right time.

Leigh meant business from the off and a superbly controlled first-half, capped by two tries from powerhouse centre Paul Anderson, put Leigh firmly in the driving seat.

To their credit, Mike Ford's Oldham never gave up and despite looking jaded after last week's extra-time win at Doncaster, battled to the end.

In fact they threatened more in the second-half but Leigh always had the edge in speed, skill and defence.

It left coach Paul Terzis delighted with a job well done.

"We came here knowing we wanted to leave Hilton Park on a winning note.

"It was important that we played attacking rugby league and we did. The players backed themselves.

"Oldham were always going to tire and the two tries they scored were off our errors.

"I feel that the skill level was the difference. We had more attacking options and defensively we were awesome. We have a lot of big game players.

"There must be doubts in Dewsbury's minds but it is still another rugby league game and down to what happens on the day."

The Centurions dominated the early exchanges but it was not until the 16th minute that their incessant pressure told. Alan Cross was held just short of the line but the ball was quickly whipped along the line and Liam Bretherton put Anderson racing in at the corner.

Five minutes later and this time Bretherton was tackled just short of the line.

But the Oldham defence had been sucked in and Keiron Purtill provided the final pass for Anderson to cross again. Bretherton goaled and added a 26th minute penalty to put Leigh 12-0 ahead.

Leigh should have increased their lead but squandered chances. And it was not until after the break they went further ahead with another Bretherton penalty.

Oldham finally upset Leigh's defence in the 51st minute when Ford's up-and-under deceived Dave Ingram to allow Warren Barrow to pounce for the touchdown.

The visitors applied more pressure but although errors began to creep into Leigh's game they held out and produced the vital try in the 63rd minute.

Prop Dave Whittle surged for the line and from the play-the-ball, Aussie loose-forward Adam Bristow capped an inspired display by diving over.

Four minutes from time Oldham hit back when Anderson's wayward pass was intercepted by Dave Gibbons who raced 80 metres for a touchdown which Pat Rich converted.

But it was all too little too late to worry Leigh who were already dreaming of Grand Final glory.
