DETECTIVES are investigating a vicious attack on a pensioner who was punched about the head and body during a robbery at the weekend.
The Prestwich man confronted a stranger who was hiding beneath a window at the rear of his house in Scholes Lane.
The intruder kicked out at the back door before launching an attack on the terrified 67-year-old occupant.
Police said the thief forced the elderly victim to hand over £250 in cash before fleeing. The pensioner was taken to Bury General Hospital and released after minor treatment to a facial injury.
The attacker is described as a white male, aged between 30 and 40 years, with black wavy hair. He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a black pullover.
