WE were privileged to accompany the Smithills School and Bolton Sixth Form College Senior Brass Band on their tour of West Virginia, USA, between July 11 and 16.
The pupils and students were wonderful ambassadors for Bolton, and their seven performances to over 5000 people at the concerts enchanted the audiences and fully deserved the standing ovations at all the venues.
The tour was hosted in West Virginia by the United Methodist Church, and all the party were wonderfully hosted by families in the various cities that we visited.
The Band also appeared on television, broadcast on radio, and brought great credit to themselves, school and college.
The excellent conducting and introduction of the items by the Director of Music, Mr Christopher Wormald enhanced the concerts, and involvement of the audiences was much appreciated.
Well done Band, we were proud to be associated with you.
