IN the Bolton Darts League in aid of The Bolton Society for Mentally Handicapped Children and Adults, the Ladies Winter League format has been completed.

There were four sections playing, two at the Moonlight Club, St George's Road and two at the RAOB Club, Derby Street.

There were 10 players in each section. The top three players will receive prize money and trays in each section. Winners will receive £100, runners-up £50, third £30 with all other lady players each receiving a salver. Maureen Taylor won the Ladies Section One Moonlight Club by two points from Liz Draper with Dot Ainsworth in third, following close behind are Chris Boardman and Vicky Lawton.

The winner of the Ladies Section Two Moonlight Club is Pauline Lomax by six points from Dot Marsh with Eileen Gannon in third and Glennis Brooks, Karen Oakley and Margaret Rowlands in joint fourth. Gina Jones won the Ladies Section One RAOB Club by two points from Mabel Macari with Pat Boardman in third and Bev Ryding, June Scott and Anne Callaghan in joint fourth.

The winner of the Ladies Section Two RAOB Club is Mavis Naylor by two points from Mary Williams, with Karen Norris in third and Joan Miller in fourth. There were three competitions run through the season round the board, pairs and individuals.

In each of these events, prize money and plaques will be given.

Secretary, Brian Holden, has praised all the ladies who make an abundance of money for the charity the league supports, The Bolton Senior Gateway Club -- a cheque for £931 -- of which £671 was raised by all lady darts players who were involved in the 1998/99 winter league format. The ladies held their annual charity evening at the RAOB Club, Derby Street and raised £140. The stewardess raised £65 and the Buff Club donated £25 with a total of £230. The Ladies Summer League Format donated £30.

The Ladies 133 and over leaders -- Dot Ainsworth 12, Maureen Taylor 11, Chris Boardman, Julie Broxton 8, Vicky Lawton, Dawn Lowe, Glennis Brooks 7, Julie Robinson, Pauline Lomax, Pat Boardman, Mabel Macari, Mary Williams 6, Gina Jones 5, Eva Holden, Liz Draper 4, Bev Ryding, Mavis Naylor, Kath Lawson 3.

Will all teams and players note that last season's annual cups and trophies should be returned to The Moonlight Club, St George's Road immediately during opening hours or to the Secretary, Mr Brian Holden, 25 Delamere Gardens, Halliwell, Bolton BL1 8AU.

A Winter League Mixed Pairs Competition will take place at the Moonlight Club on June 8 (Thursday night). For information contact Eva Holden, 496242. Only one player needs to be registered with the league, man or woman.
