AN inquest into a former rugby star killed in a freak accident is due to open today at Leigh Town Hall.
John Westhead, aged 34, died after he slashed an artery in his arm after falling through a glass panel in a door at his home in Thorneycroft, Leigh, on Sunday.
Mr Westhead -- who made 136 appearances for Leigh -- died after losing massive amounts of blood.
The accident came shortly after Mr Westhead and his family had returned from christening celebrations for a friend's baby.
