BOB Naylor of Daisy Hill FC has been appointed to take up an official post on the Lancashire Football Association. "I don't quite know yet what the nitty gritty of the role will be but I'm really looking forward to it," he explains.
"The LFA decided to create Life Vice Presidencies for three long serving officials in recognition of their service and achievements. One was in our particular region, Division 9, with Bill Shaw the man honoured.
"All the clubs within that district's boundaries were circulated with details and requested to put forward any nominations they may have. When I saw it, it took my fancy. I gave it a bit of thought before deciding to ask Daisy Hill if they'd put me forward. When I approached the rest of the people at our club they gave me their backing.
"The Council then made the election and I was fortunate enough to be voted in. I've just received the formal notification and I'll be invited to attend a council meeting prior to the AGM on June 27. " I had to weigh up whether I have the time to commit myself properly to the demands which will be made. I certainly didn't want it to interfere with my role at Daisy Hill Football Club. I wasn't going into it as an "instead of", it's an "as well as".
"Hopefully I will be able to combine the two roles and give it my best shot."
Bob's region, Division 9, covers Atherton, Leigh, Westhoughton, Hindley and Wigan.
