A TRAIN travelling Bury MP wants to pull the plug on the mobile phone pests who are ruining his journeys.
Bury MP David Chaytor -- who has travelled hundreds of miles listening to other travellers using their mobile phones -- wants every train to have a carriage free of the hi-tec nuisances.
He has put down a Commons Motion calling for 'quiet zones' for all rail travellers.
Mr Chaytor said: "I have finally snapped. I travel 500 miles-a-week on trains and have become sick and tired of the incessant din of mobile phone conversations going on around me as I try to concentrate on my work.
"I think the best way to preserve my, and other people's, sanity, is by turning some carriages into mobile-free zones."
The Motion calls for train companies to follow the Heathrow Express by introducing 'quiet zone' carriages where mobiles are banned.
Mr Chaytor said: "I am not against mobile phones but it is time for those of us who like our peace and quiet to be given it back. I hope that the rail operators will sit up and listen to my plea."
