ANYONE viewing the latest spectacle of the Eurovision Song Contest must have been sickened, not so much by the songs, even though some bordered on the ludicrous, but by the system of voting to select the winners.
To say the least, many were given on a partisan or good neighbour basis. Others not so much for the song, as to the way the visual effects were staged, costumes worn, or, as in previous contests, the lack of them.
For viewers or a panel to understand the lyrics, they would have to be a linguistic genius.
Maybe the Danish entry deserved to win but I hope they do not expand the number of entries outside of Europe, otherwise we would have to turn in for a nap and catch the rest of the show the day after.
