SIR,- On Sunday last, I went to London on the London and North-Western line, which started from the Great Moor-street station, Bolton, at 8.25am. I reside at Daubhill, and there got a ticket for Manchester, paying one shilling for it. A friend of mine who was in the train, had come up from Bolton, and had paid tenpence half-penny, a difference of three half-pence; a longer distance for less money. I ask you, Mr Editor, cannot some means be adopted to precure more uniform charges? - Yours, &c, Thomas Halstead, Daubhill.

ON Monday, an old man named Thomas Hall, 68, who lives at Bolton Old-road, Atherton, was attacked in the most outrageous manner by an American Irishman named Joseph Johnson, of Tyldesley. Johnson commenced to tease the old man's ass by twisting its tail, and on being remonstrated with he set upon the old man, knocked him to the ground, and bit off his top lip, and also disfigured the nose with his teeth. Not content with this, he kicked the old man whilst he lay on the ground. The outrage was witnessed by two gentleman in a conveyance who pursued the prisoner and captured him. It was with great difficulty that the populace could be prevented from lynching the brutal cannibal who bears the marks of considerable violence. Her was lodged in the police cells at Tyldesley. Hall lies in a prostrate condition.
