IT'S decision time in Eidur Gudjohnsen's bid to make tomorrow night's play-off semi-final decider against Ipswich Town. Wanderers hope to know by tonight whether the influential striker will be in their ranks at Portman Road.

The Reebok's 22-goal top scorer, who travelled to Suffolk with the squad today, has been under intensive treatment from physio Mark Leather since suffering a knee injury in Sunday's 2-2 first leg draw.

"He looks doubtful at this time," said manager Sam Allardyce.

"His knee is slightly swollen but we believe it is just a kick and we are hopeful he will make it.

Extra day

"There is not much time between the two games and if he had had an extra day to recover he would probably have been okay. "We should have a better idea later today if he is going to have a chance or not.

"If Mark Leather says it is worth waiting until tomorrow then we will give him as long as possible but if he thinks there is no chance then we will write him off there and then and start working with the lad who is going to replace him."

Summing up the importance of having Gudjohnsen in the side, Allardyce added: "He turns games for you. His goal on Sunday showed what he is all about, his body movement was so quick and his shot was so quick ."

Gudjohnsen himself could have the final word if the injury is touch and go.

"If he wants to play and it is not going to cause further damage to the injury then it might be worth taking the risk but it depends on how much more serious the damage might be.

Confident

"If he doesn't feel he can give his best or get through the game then that will decide it."

"It is in Eidur's hands as much as it is in Mark Leather's."

Wanderers are confident Paul Ritchie will be fit after suffering a dead-leg on Sunday to add to his recurring stomach muscle injury. Allan Johnston missed training with a calf injury but should be okay.
