STAGECOACH Ribble bosses admitted further service disruptions are inevitable this week after bus drivers voted for a second day of strikes.
Bus drivers will be leaving their vehicles at the depot again on Friday as they attempt to push forward their increased wage claim.
The company has proposed to give drivers a 28-month deal with a senior rate of £5.50 an hour on January 1, 2001 and with a review date of May 1, 2002. The Transport and General Workers Union has rejected the offer.
Michael Chambers, managing director of Stagecoach Ribble, said: "The company has written to each of its drivers confirming that the final offer cannot be improved upon.
"We are very much hoping that many more do not take part in the planned industrial action so as to minimise the disruption to our customers." Two hotlines for passengers have been set up, offering information on service alterations. Telephone 01772 886633 or 01772 254754.
More than a dozen bus drivers picketed outside Stagecoach Ribble's depot on Goodwin Street, Bolton on May 10.
