A MAJOR campaign against the fake sports clothing industry was launched today.
Greater Manchester Crimestoppers has joined forces with the Sports Industries Federation, the Anti-Counterfeiting Group and local trading standards departments to target product counterfeiting in the region. Consumer affairs minister Dr Kim Howells was at the official launch at the Trafford Centre today.
He unveiled a poster which will appear in Bolton and other local towns highlighting the problems of counterfeiting and encouraging the public to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with information about fake sports gear.
Former Olympic decathlon gold medallist Daley Thompson has pledged his support to the campaign.
