I WAS delighted to read that Councillor Howarth admits in his Town Hall Talk that there is a real problem with Bolton's roads. Bolton residents have been aware of this for some considerable time, and it seems that it needed a campaign in your pages to wake the ruling Labour group up to a problem highlighted by the Conservatives for much longer than the recent Council budget meeting.

Much less acceptable is the oft repeated complaint about 'tons of millions of cuts', when there seems to be no problem in finding money for elaborate cosmetic schemes to attract these mythical 'tourists' who will visit the town, and for hefty grants to institutions and activities in other cities and towns.

It is the common sense of the Conservative councillors which is in touch with the real concerns of the people who live in Bolton, the people who have seen the areas where they live neglected by this misplaced spending of their council tax.
