IF we had to have an elected Mayor in Bolton, who could we trust with that responsibility?
Any one of our excellent local MP's would fit the bill, including David Chaytor, Ivan Lewis, Terry Lewis and Lawrence Cunliffe. But these people are doing very worthwhile jobs in politics already. We need these MP's to help keep New Labour from drifting even more to the right. So, I nominate Fred Shawcross. Fred says he would put law and order at the top of his agenda and introduce swinging measures to rid our streets of yobs. Well, only the yobs would disagree with that.
