A GROUP of Bolton teenagers are heading off to London for a star-studded weekend and to appear on a top television show.

About 40 members of the Bolton Saturday Club are travelling to London on Saturday after being invited to be part of the studio audience on the popular ITV show CD-UK, hosted by Ant and Dec.

They will be introduced to all the pop stars appearing on the show including the likes of Steps, Hanson, Westlife and B*witched.

Alison Power, who runs the Saturday Club with her sister-in-law, Mandy Heron, said: "They can't wait. This is all they've been talking about for weeks.

"And they've been even more excited since they found out they'll be meeting the band Westlife. Apparently, they're the in-thing at the moment, so I've been told."

Mrs Power, of Lonsdale Road, Heaton, arranged the dream trip by writing to the producers of the show, which starts at 11.30am on Saturdays and is watched by millions of viewers.

But though it's a treat for the Saturday Club members, they definitely deserve it.

Since Mrs Power and Mrs Heron launched the club in February 1997, it has raised more than £15,000 for charity.

The club, which meets every Saturday between noon and 3pm at Chorley Old Road United Reform Church, was set up because there were so many bored children in the area with nothing to do at weekends.

Now it is so popular there is a waiting list!

Mrs Power added: "We started it because Mandy and I have seven children between us and they had nothing to do. We raise money for good causes and it keeps the children off the street while their mums can go out shopping."
