FARNWORTH Schools String Ensemble is entering the computer age with a programme to help them compose their own tunes.

The computer programme has been bought with a £600 Single Regeneration Budget grant from Farnworth and Little Hulton Partnership.

It is the second time that the group, made up of children from throughout the area, has received a grant. Last year it was handed more than £1,200 to buy instruments, music and music stands.

The ensemble rehearses each Monday evening from 4.15pm to 5.30pm at Our Lady of Lourdes School and welcomes new players.

Its latest grant was presented to Christine Greenwood, chairman of the parents' support group, by Cllr Margaret Clare on behalf of the Farnworth and Little Hulton Partnership.
