CARETAKER coach Norman Turley steps back into the Hilton Park shadows this week, proud of a job well done.

Turley, left holding the baby when Ian Millward left for St Helens two weeks ago, has steered Leigh through the troubled waters and leaves the team in good shape when new coach Paul Terzis picks up the reins on Wednesday.

Leigh have beaten two of their main NFP rivals while Turley has been in sole control but typically deflects the praise.

"It's not about me, " he says "There is an awful lot of pride and guts in our club and that was never shown more than today," he pointed out after Leigh's heart-stopping victory at Dewsbury. "This was a fantastic result."

Terzis will take over in ideal circumstances. Leigh a point clear at the top of the table with an eight-match winning sequence under their belts and confidence sky-high.

"It will be a unique position for Paul when he arrives," Turley acknowledges. "Normally a new coach comes in because a team is struggling and the coach has been sacked. But he's coming in with a team and the town buzzing."

Leigh lost the toss to stage the Trans-Pennine Trophy final on April 12. They now face a return trip to Dewsbury for a contest between the top two from east and west of the Pennines.
