I SAW the picture and read the caption in the BEN (March 21), showing Liz Dawn presenting an award to Bolton Council 'for its efforts to keep its own streets clean.'
To say that I am amazed is an understatement.
I can see why the awards were held in Manchester, as anyone coming to Bolton will realise that this is a filthy town. The streets are full of litter, and although some attempts are made to clean up the town centre nothing is done to punish the offenders, who are polluting our streets and countryside. If Jack Foster would like to see proof of my statement, I am willing to take him on a tour around Bolton's streets. I think then he might feel that any award given to the Council for cleanliness has been accepted under false pretences.
