JUNIOR football league bosses have pledged to investigate after an alleged incident involving a senior club official and a referee.

Bury and Radcliffe Junior League officials are waiting for detailed written reports after the under 13s match between Walshaw Sports Club and Bury Rangers ended in controversy.

Trouble flared as the 59-year-old referee went to retrieve one of his linesman's flags from the touch line at full time in yesterday's game which was played at Walshaw.

It is understood there was an altercation between the referee and one of the spectators.

League secretary Judith Jones said today: "We have been made aware of some allegations informally. But it would be inappropriate to comment in detail.

"We are now awaiting written reports from the referee and club officials. These will then be passed onto the regional Football Association."
