PROPOSALS to create one of Greater Manchester's first 'wheeled sports' parks in Walkden will be considered this week by councillors.

Members of the Arts and Leisure Committee will discuss the plans put forward by the Worsley, Walkden and Boothstown Community Committee's Youth Task Group to create the wheeled sports facility within Parr Fold Park on Wednesday.

If given the go ahead, the facility aims to provide an activity area specifically designed for youths on BMX bikes, skateboards and in-line skates.

Parr Fold Park, close to the centre of Walkden, is already a well established play area and the area proposed for the wheeled activity area is remote from most of the other facilities and predominantly shielded by trees.

Pin-pointed

However, the plans show it would be close to the basketball area which the reports states could be utilised by youths waiting to use the wheeled sports area, or vice versa.

The area has also been pinpointed for the facility as the land slopes significantly in the proposed site which could be used to its advantage by the introduction of additional attractions such as mini ramps or a bar.
