THE medical profession is helping police track a bogus nurse who carried out a distressing "intimate" examination on a 90-year-old woman at her home.

Medical professionals are checking through their records to see if there is any information they can provide to the police.

As reported in the BEN on Saturday, the bogus nurse carried out the examination on Thursday after being allowed into a sheltered housing scheme where the pensioner lives alone in the Lime Street area of Farnworth.

Police are warning other pensioners to be on the alert.

The description given was of a white woman, 40-50 years old, about 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build with shoulder length straight hair. She was wearing a coat over a dress but was not in a nurses' uniform.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bolton Central CID, tel: 0161 856 5653 or Crimestoppers on the free phone 0800 555 111.
