I SHOULD like to express my dismay regarding recent reports in both national and local newspapers.

These reports concern the vast number of immigrants now residing in the British Isles.

As an example there are 50,000 Asians living in Bradford, almost a fifth of the city's population and in some areas it rises to half.

In the 1991 census 19pc of whites were under the age of 15 compared with 29pc of Indians, 43pc Pakistanis and 47pc of Bangladeshi. Now, according to one national newspaper report, Britain is facing an Asian crimewave which has resulted in the Home Secretary, Jack Straw MP for Blackburn (another town heavily populated with Asians), being urged by necessity to appoint the first Muslim advisor to the prison service at a salary of £50,000 a year.

The figures for 1997 show that the number of people imprisoned per 100,000 population was 176 for whites, 1249 all black people, 86 Indian, 278 Pakistani and 101 Bangladeshi.

Governments, past and present, have always had plenty of money readily available for immigrants and asylum seekers who have contributed little or nothing to this country's finances. It's ironic that when it comes to the older senior citizens of the white population, we still suffer the indignity of receiving the long standing paltry £10 Christmas bonus.
