THE Diet Coke hunk who has made women all over the country go weak at the knees has an appointment at a Clayton Green supermarket - but not at 11.30!

Robert Merrill, pictured, star of the fizzy drink TV ads, is popping in to the Asda store on Centre Drive, off Sheephill Lane, tomorrow (Friday). Arriving in a stretch limo, the model-turned-actor will be on hand to meet customers and sign a few autographs.

And staff will be battling for the right to serve the man who is famous for making women drool over their '11.30'.

But any admirers making an 11.30am dash for the Clayton Green store will be in for a long wait. For Robert, who turned his back on a legal career to find success as a model, will not be appearing at the store until 2.45pm.

Asda checkout manager Christine Thorniley said: "We're looking forward to him coming in here, hopefully wiggling his bum! We've set up a competition among the checkout girls to see who can sell the most Asda Savings Stamps before Friday - and whoever wins will get to serve him.

"As you can imagine, the competition's really hotting up!"

Since being chosen from hundreds of applicants for the Diet Coke ad, the 36-year-old has rocketed to stardom. But despite his new found fame and legion of female admirers, Robert is currently single.
