At Swim for Life we are celebrating the 10th Anniversary year of my Sharron Davies Swim Challenges. In 1999, with the help of your readers, we are aiming to make this a very special year.

The first Swim Challenge of 1999 is the Channel Challenge - don't worry - you don't swim in the freezing waters of the English Channel, but in the warmth of your local pool. The event runs from the January 1 - December 31, 1999. In 1998 swimmers taking the Channel Challenge completed over one million miles - 45,500 channel crossings!

On each visit during 1999, you simply log the distance you swim. There are several targets to aim for starting at 22 miles up to the 110 mile challenge. If you don't think that's enough, then take the option challenge. Set your target in multiples of 22 miles, anyone for 506 miles? You can also get together with friends or work colleagues as a team.

As well as helping improve your own health and fitness, participants can raise funds for this year's main beneficiary, the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (Reg. Charity No. 209631) one of the world's leading cancer research organisations. Its scientists and doctors rely on support of the general public.

For more information about the Channel Challenge, call the ActionLine 01382 451146 or pick up an entry form at your local pool. Please, take the plunge and support the 1999 Channel Challenge and help make our 10th Anniversary Year the most successful year ever!
