A WOMAN who became a second mum to two teenagers has been honoured with a good neighbour award.

Susan Bibby, of Isabel Walk, Deane, has been a "surrogate" mum to her teenage neighbours Peter and Keith Nicholson since their own mother died.

And in appreciation the brothers nominated single mum, Susan for Kleeneze's Best Neighbours Awards.

Peter and Keith were aged just 13 and 17 when their own mum died four years ago but Susan, who has two children of her own, took them under her wing and made sure they were able to stay together in their own home.

"She makes sure we are up in the morning for work and that our bills are paid on time," said Peter.

"In fact she does almost anything we need doing and we can always go to her to talk if we have any problems to sort out.

"We know our mother was happy to have her as a friend and she has been our constant second mother."

The annual awards, run by the direct selling company, aim to find unsung heroes who make a difference to people around them.

Susan was one of several hundred people nominated throughout the North-west and wins a house plaque, hamper and £50 of vouchers.

She now goes through to the national finals and the chance to win a luxury holiday.
