ARNAR Gunnlaugsson has got what it takes to make it at the highest level. That's the verdict of Icelandic national coach Gudjon Thordarson who dubbed the Wanderers' front man a top star in the making after his impressive display against world champions France on Saturday.

Gunnlaugsson, who has forced his way into the Wanderers side this season, provided his country's greatest threat in the European Championship qualifying game before he was substited 20 minutes from time as Iceland successfully fought to hold out for a 1-1 draw.

After seeing his recalled star take the eye against Real Madrid right back Christian Karembeu, Thordarson predicted: "Arnar can be a great player. "He worked hard and did well. Through his experience at Bolton he is improving all the time.

"He definitely has the ability he just needs a little more self-confidence which he now seems to be getting."

Explaining the substitution, he added: "We were defending the draw and I felt we needed to introduce a player that would have more of a physical impact on the game at that stage."

Reebok boss Colin Todd arranged the Sunday session to run the rule over the quartet's fitness and to get his sqaud prepared for tomorrow night's First Division trip to West Brom when Wanderers seek to extend their six-match unbeaten start to the season.

"I wanted the squad in who I'll be taking to West Brom," he explained.

"It's important that we had the extra session to have a look at them all and make sure there were no injuries from the internationals.

"Fortunately all four have come back with no injuries." Squad's
