TWO Bolton sisters have proved they are prize pupils after both attained full attendance records at high school. Verity and Sonia Ogden have never missed a day in the classroom since they started their high school. Sonia, 21, was the first to achieve her flawless record which assured her of a gold star for attendance at Swinton High School in Salford. She was the first pupil to have a 100 per cent record.

Now 16-year-old Verity has followed in her sister's footsteps, leaving St James's CE High School in Farnworth with another exemplary record.

Proud dad, Harold, explained: "They've never had a day off in five years of schooling. We've never pushed them.

"It shows that if you can keep going to school you can achieve what you want to. We're proud that both of them just wanted to go to school."

Sonia is now studying Information Technology and Music at Liverpool Hope University. Her sister plans to enrol at Eccles College when she completes her GCSE examinations.

Mum Denise, of Manchester Road, Kearsley, said: "We're delighted for them both. It's not been a competition but when Verity got to her last year without having had a day off she thought she'd be able to match her sister.

"It proves that not all pupils in this day and age play truant and perhaps it will encourage other pupils to attain such a record."
