BURY chairman Terry Robinson will not be rushed into appointing a successor to Stan Ternent.

The Gigg Lane supremo has held preliminary talks with ex-Oldham boss Neil Warnock and two more unnamed candidates.

And while he admits he feels Warnock "would be all right for us", he is determined to take his time.

Robinson, who looks increasingly likely to be facing a fight for compensation from Burnley over the loss of Ternent and his assistant Sam Ellis, is also sifting through a pile of applications for the post from candidates including Frank Stapleton, ex-Burnley boss Jimmy Mullen and former Bury star Paul Hilton.

But he said: "There's a lot for us to think about and we're going to take our time. I am just sitting back and taking stock. We have an idea of who we have in mind and if they are available we will approach them, if they are not available we will leave them alone because we like to think at Bury that we do things the right way.

"I was very disappointed to lose Stan and Sam but I'm over that disappointment now and I'm directing all my efforts on finding the right man to come in."
