HOUSING officers are meeting tenants from across the borough in a series of roadshows as part of National Housing Week. The roadshows are aimed at promoting the council's housing department and present the opportunity for tenants to ask questions and raise concerns. The final roadshow will be on Friday afternoon at the corner of Long Lane and Blenheim Road in Breightmet.

Other events include the reopening of Shackleton Grove following refurbishment and a dance and buffet at Mere Hall on Thursday night.

A special clean up day had been organised in the Breightmet area to coincide with Housing Week.

Bolton Council's Breightmet Area Action team with environmental services and the housing department have organised a refuse vehicle to travel through the area on Saturday and residents will be able to get rid of their rubbish, including garden waste, rubble, fencing and household items free of charge.

Collections will start at 9am finishing at 6pm. The vehicle will work its way through Hollycroft Avenue, Steele Gardens, Leacroft, Beechcroft Avenue and Long Lane and will move on to Waggon Road, Romiley Crescent, Romiley Drive, Ashley Avenue and Mobberley Road.

The vehicle will also visit Monks Lane, Glaister Lane, Bridson Lane, New Lane, Greenroyd Avenue and Levens Drive before calling at Starkie Road, Entwistle Street, Delacy Drive, Kirkham Street and Huntroyd Avenue.

Help will be given to lift items onto the vehicle, especially for the elderly and disabled and rubbish should be bagged and left outside on the day.

Two skips will also be made available at Garstang Avenue and Yewdale Avenue.
