SIR: We have had one year of the New Labour Government, and as an OAP, I would like to say thanks for nothing.

The MPs started off by giving themselves £180 per week rise in salary, and gave the OAPs less than £3 per week, based on inflation, then in the budget we didn't even get a mention, yet they gave everybody an increase in child benefit, which even MPs and millionaires will draw. A pensioner pays tax if they get more then £80 a week, yet these well off people get benefits tax free. New Labour is no different from Old Tory.
