POLICE are hunting armed raiders who put a gun to a post-master's head during an early morning robbery.

Two men struck at Sandy Lane Post Office in Prestwich at 8.40am on Saturday just as the post master was opening the premises.

They grabbed him from behind and pushed a small black handgun to his head before demanding to be let inside the shop.

Once inside they made their way behind the counter and stole cash from the till.

The men ran out of the shop onto Sandy Lane and into Lowther Road, where they got into a dirty white car, possibly a Metro MG or a Fiesta, which was being driven by a third man.

No shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident.

The first offender was white, in his mid 20s, 5ft 10ins tall with a stocky build. He was unshaven and wore a white baseball cap, dark jacket and dark jeans.

His accomplice was white, in his mid 20s, between 5ft 10 ins and 6ft tall with a medium build. He wore a dark jacket and blue jeans. The third man is not described.
