SIR: Fervent thanks once again to the heroes and heroines, who turned out in torrential rain showers on April 26 at Bromley Cross Railway Station to join Bolton Lions' third annual April Amble Charity Walk. The money raised will go to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
A total of 87 people splashed and splodged their way round glorious countryside in alternately wet and dry spells. I know that sponsorship raising required that kind of commitment, but for the many hundreds of people supporting the walk with hard earned money, I confirm that it was undertaken almost beyond the call of duty.
Our thanks to the Mayor and Mayoress, for kindly seeing the party off, with their blessing and good wishes. We hope to have some sort of photographic evidence to show supporters when we have all the sponsorship money to hand, and can advise the total amount through the auspices of the Bolton Evening News.
